Handwriting belongs to Heinrich Baumann, dean of Cēsis (in German: Wenden), however, there are no evidence whether he gathered the folk songs himself or received and rewrote ones received from Rubenes (in German: Papendorf) minister Christoph Harder. The owner of handwriting on the first page of capsule could be August Wilhelm Hupel sending these folk songs to J.G. Herder.
