The collection represents 3807 units of folklore materials, collected by long-time Head of Archives of Latvian Folklore, Professor Kārlis Straubergs (1890-1962). That includes double entries, materials added after his exile and death, newspaper clippings as well as materials submitted to him by other persons. Majority of materials is collected in 1921–1941, including about 500 units dictated by Straubergs’ parents. The most represented genre is folksongs (1366 units), followed by 673 folk beliefs, 391 charms (including photocopies of the black magic manual ‘Keys of Solomon’), 191 song and dance tunes, 118 customs, and 72 units related to folk medicine.
